Whereas, the First Amendment of the Constitution of the U.S. guarantees U.S. Citizens the free exercise of religion, freedom of assembly, and the right to petition government for a redress of grievances;

Whereas, these rights may be abridged only under the most dire circumstances;

Whereas, the coronavirus poses no such dire circumstances but rather poses similar risks to human health as the common influenza;

Whereas, coronavirus mitigation fails as a reason for drastic measures such as ordering so-called “nonessential” businesses, churches, and other assemblies to close or suffer severe restrictions;

Whereas, the loss of businesses, record-unemployment levels, and the isolation, depression, alcohol, and substance abuse caused by Governor Baker’s order closing businesses far outweighs any benefits to mitigating the spread of the coronavirus;

Whereas, extension of Governor Baker’s order will increase the economic and psychological damage exponentially, be it therefore,

Resolved, that we the undersigned demand restoration of our Constitutional Rights;

Resolved, that we the undersigned demand that Governor Baker immediately terminate his orders that restrict our Rights, and allow businesses, people of faith, and private associations to conduct their affairs as they see most prudent;

Resolved, that we the undersigned call upon our legislators to take all necessary measures to admonish the Governor’s usurpation of his Constitutional Oath and to demand that he terminate his Unconstitutional Orders immediately.
