Pregnancy Resource Centers (1)

Alert: Pregnancy Resource Centers are under attack! They are going to vote on it Thursday, November 3, 2022. Send your legislators an email today!

Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs) are under attack! The radical militant abortion group Jane’s Revenge has claimed responsibility for vandalism at several PRCs in Massachusetts.

Somerville passed an ordinance limiting PRCs there because of claims of false advertising. Amherst also considered a similar ordinance.

Senator Elizabeth Warren and Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey want to shut them down for “false advertising.”

The radicals on Beacon Hill have targeted at least $1 million for a “public awareness campaign to educate providers and the public about so called crisis pregnancy centers and pregnancy resource centers and their lack of medical services.”

This is nothing but a smear campaign against PRCs that provide a critical resource for women in our communities—with your tax dollars!

Pregnancy Resource Centers are diverse in the services they provide. Some only provide counseling to women who either believe they are pregnant or actually are pregnant and may be in difficult circumstances.

Others offer more comprehensive services including ultrasounds to confirm a pregnancy. Nearly all provide donated baby supplies such as baby clothes, diapers, car seats, and other items needed for a newborn baby.

PRCs are charitable organizations supported by community members with a mission of helping women. They are such heroes working in very difficult and emotionally charged circumstances.

Please send your legislator an email today to tell them to reject the $1 million smear campaign against this critical community resource for women.

Stop the Smear Campaign Against Pregnancy Resource Centers

Dear Senator and Representative,

I\'m writing to ask you to oppose the $1 million smear campaign against Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs) found in the Conference Committee report in HB 5374.

Specifically line 1599-6072 in Section 2 of HB 5374 contains this text:

\"provided further, that not less than $1,000,000 shall be expended for a public awareness campaign to educate providers and the public about so called crisis pregnancy centers and pregnancy resource centers and their lack of medical services; provided further, that said campaign shall include information on the availability of providers across the commonwealth that provide legitimate medical and family planning services.\"

Pregnancy Resource Centers are invaluable charitable resources for women in our communities. PRCs vary in the services they offer. Some only provide counseling to women who may be or are pregnant. Others, however, offer medical services ranging from pregnancy testing to ultra-sounds to confirm a pregnancy.

Nearly all have \"baby boutiques\" that are run by volunteers to provide new baby care items such as diapers, baby clothes, car seats, and more. These items are either purchased new or donated by people in the community.

To spend a minimum of $1 million in taxpayer money on a \"public awareness campaign\" against Pregnancy Resource Centers and their alleged \"lack of medical services\" is just simply wrong.

It\'s dishonest to say that all pregnancy resource centers do not offer medical services because some do. Furthermore, all Pregnancy Resource Centers extend a warm hand to help women who are often in difficult situations.

This amounts to a smear campaign against a valuable community resource for women.

HB 5374 is due to come up during an \"informal session\" tomorrow morning, Thursday, November 3rd.

I ask you to please reject HB 5374 and the $1 million smear campaign against Pregnancy Resource Centers as well as to be present at the informal session tomorrow and object to taking this bill up without a roll call vote.

Sincerely,
